This one-of-a-kind 12″ x 7″ vase from Janet Francoeur’s Nature Series is hand painted with beautiful flowers, bird, and butterflies, and hand lettered with the gentle, reflective poem “I Meant to Do My Work Today” by Richard Le Gallienne.
In flowing calligraphy, the verse: “I meant to do my work today but a brown bird sang in the apple tree and a butterfly flitted across the field and all the leaves were calling me… and the wind went sighing over the land… So what could I do but laugh and go?”
Created using underglazes and fired at 2000 degrees, this piece blends art, poetry, and the beauty of the natural world. Inspired by a month Janet spent exploring the Everglades, it captures the feeling of being joyfully swept up by nature’s call.
