Item Details

This 8½” x 10½” giclée print is reproduced from Janet Francoeur’s original watercolor of James Reed Lane, a charming pocket park nestled beside Carolina Creations in Downtown New Bern.

The lane is named in honor of Reverend James Reed, an Anglican clergyman who arrived in the Carolinas in 1753 and later founded the first tax-supported school in colonial North Carolina — what would become the New Bern Academy. He also served as the first clergyman of Christ Episcopal Church on Pollock Street.

The park was lovingly created in 1995 by the Downtown New Bern Redevelopment Association, Swiss Bear, and remains a peaceful and meaningful part of the historic district.
